Trigger Control – The Silent Game-Changer

One can have the clearest sights, the best stance, and the smoothest draw—but if trigger control is sloppy, rounds will wander like a lost puppy.  Trigger control is where precision is born. It’s not just how you pull—it’s how and when you break the shot.  Here are some solid tips to tighten your control:

1. Reset Discipline – Learn to feel your trigger reset. After the shot, ride the trigger just forward until it clicks—then prep for the next press. This reduces wasted motion and improves speed and consistency.

2. Surprise Break – Practice slowly pressing the trigger until the gun fires without you anticipating it. It helps eliminate jerking or flinching.

3. Finger Placement – Too much or too little finger on the trigger can pull shots left or right. The center of the pad is the sweet spot.

4. Prep the Break – As you acquire the target and take up slack, begin prepping the break. That way, you’re not slamming the trigger when sights align—you’re finishing a deliberate action.

5. Shot Cadence Drill – Use timed splits with a shot timer or metronome to practice pulling the trigger at a consistent rhythm under pressure.

Bonus Dry Fire Drill: Balance a dime or empty casing on your front sight. Press the trigger without letting it fall. It’s humbling—but effective.
